Tony also has substantial employee benefits litigation experience and is admitted to the Federal District Court of Minnesota and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been voted a Super Lawyer for many years. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota, where he served as an editor of Minnesota Law Review.

Tony began practicing law at Faegre & Benson in 1982. He later joined Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly where he was a partner. Tony practices exclusively in the area of employee benefits. Tony has worked with many large Midwest employers, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Canadian Pacific Railway, Soo Line Railroad, Alliant Techsystems, and Wells Fargo. He represents GreatBanc Trust Company in connection with certain ERISA independent fiduciary matters. He also works with Education Minnesota, the Metropolitan Council, Jamestown Regional Medical Center and other non-profit organizations with their employee benefits matters. Tony has extensive experience in the areas of maintaining the tax qualified status of ERISA retirement plans (including cash balance, traditional pension, profit sharing, 401(k) and ESOPs), fiduciary matters, drafting legal documents, providing advice in connection with plan administration, preparing employee communication materials, dealing with IRS, DOL and PBGC audits and inquiries, mergers and acquisitions, welfare benefit plans, resolving benefit disputes and employee benefit consulting and design.
